North Star joins Mission 360° Team with PLEXUS and RIDOT

March 5, 2007

North Star Marketing is proud to be a partner in Mission 360°, a campaign to increase and enhance the participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT). North Star is teamed with PLEXUS Corporation and Vanasse Hagen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) to provide marketing and communication services for the RIDOT program.

The Mission 360° inaugural event took place January 30 at PLEXUS headquarters, where more than 60 representatives from 30 organizations gathered at a reception to meet the Mission 360° team.

Mission 360° is a comprehensive effort to increase DBE participation in RIDOT construction contracts. The Mission 360° team will provide a range of assistance, including technical and business development services, while generating better awareness of disadvantaged businesses within Rhode Island’s transportation community.

North Star will develop a program for encouraging minorities, women and disadvantaged persons to become certified as DBE’s, and to participate in RIDOT opportunities. Additionally, North Star will share its marketing expertise, assisting DBE’s as they intensify efforts to promote their companies within the construction industry.

“As owner of a certified DBE and a woman-owned business, I am excited about the opportunity to help other DBE’s navigate the RIDOT request-for-proposal process and grow their businesses,” said April Williams, president and visionary of North Star. “Mission 360° is positioned to make a difference for quite a few DBE’s and I am excited to be working with Plexus, RIDOT and VHB to make this a success.”
