Websites I like and websites I don’tNovember 26, 2005I am a purist when it comes to websites. Hold all the flashy stuff – not only does it not impress me, it actually annoys me and will make me avoid your site. If I have to sit for longer than 10 seconds to have your site load, I am out of there – onto your competitor’s site. I go to websites for information and I want it fast. I don’t go to websites to be entertained or to find out how awesome you think you are. I am a fan of white space and like information that is organized in a neat and intuitive way. Load your home page with everything, make me have to dig to find what I want and once again, you will loose me.
People are losing sight of what websites are for. Websites are first and foremost for your customers or prospects to find out about what you do, to get more information, to help them make a decision. So how can you help them meet their goals?
There are many great sites out there, but there are still a whole lot that could use an overhaul to help their company look better but also to increase their web traffic. Web designers are listening to consumers and the trend is moving towards consumer driven design than designer driven design.
