A few tips for your eNewsletter

May 9, 2008

An eNewsletter is a great way to stay in front of your customers, prospects, referral sources and anyone else on your permission based email list. Here are some tips to keep your eNewsletter fresh, interesting and effective. Compass May 8 2008

  • Be informative. Give your readers something they can use, like business advice, industry insight and other valuable information. Avoid using your eNewsletter as an advertising vehicle full of offers and calls to action.
  • Direct readers to your website. People will scan your content and then decide if they want to read more. Provide readers who want more with a way to find it easily. Give them a synopsis of your news and link to your website or blog for more information.
  • Consistency. Consistency. Consistency. Be sure to send your eNewsletter on a regularly scheduled basis when your readers will be expecting it. Also, it should "look" the same as previous issues so your audience begins to recognize it.
  • Publish archives on your website. Allow you readers to access past issues on your website. Each time they go back to read another issue, your brand message becomes that much stronger. Also, your prospects can get a sense of your content before they sign up.
  • Spread the news. Allow users to forward your eNewsletter to a friend. Your news becomes more credible when it is passed on by a trusted source.
  • Allow readers to subscribe. Make sure that anyone who reads your eNewsletter in your archives or through a friend is given the option to subscribe.
