Follow-up is keyJune 20, 2008In the past two weeks we’ve explained the critical steps to preparing for the all important trade show, and the crucial things you need to do to make business connections while you are there. One of the most important steps in the process, however, happens when all is said and done – the follow up. Here’s how to put the business cards you’ve collected to good use.
Reach out to your new contacts: Send a personalized letter, additional marketing materials, a small gift, or anything creative that relates to your message immediately after the show. Make sure your new contact remembers you and your company.
Make them part of your regular audience: Get their permission and add their info to your mailing lists for your company newsletter, weekly email, or other regular outreach. It’s a good opportunity to highlight your new projects, clients, awards, services and more.
Timing is everything: Be sure to follow up right after the tradeshow, but also develop a schedule to consistently reach out to them going forward. That way you can be top-of-mind should the need for your product or service arises. |
