Give the gift of intrigue

July 25, 2008

Getting a piece of your best prospects' valuable time can be a challenge. With the right prospect gifting campaign, you can intrigue them to find out more about the solutions you offer and, with luck, score a meeting to close the deal. Here are some tips for putting together a campaign that gets you in the door.

  1. Identify your most desirable prospects. Make an exhaustive list in order of desirability and pick as many as you can to include within your campaign budget.
  2. Determine the key message. What do your prospects have in common? How are their needs different? Tailor the message to varying segments of your audience.
  3. Do your homework. Ensure you are targeting the right decision maker. Research as much as you can and call ahead to verify the contact name, title and address.
  4. Be creative. Pick gifts that resonate with your creative message and garner attention around the office. Include marketing materials that generate intrigue.
  5. Stretch it out. The campaign can include multiple gifts and act as a way to tell your whole story over time - not all at once.
  6. Deliver the gift in Compass 072508person. If your prospect is willing to meet with you on the spot, you'd better be there! Make sure you're prepared to seal the deal.
  7. Follow up. After the gift has been received, give your prospect a call to discuss the solutions you can provide and schedule a time to meet.
