North Star Visionary April Williams Speaks at URI

November 24, 2008

April at URI112408Recognized as a top woman business owner and marketing professional in Rhode Island, April Williams was recently invited by the University of Rhode Island Department of Communications to speak to a group of marketing and public relations students. This was Williams’ second lecture at the University, following her previous speaking engagement in November of 2007.

Williams provided insight into many aspects of marketing and public relations, such as the importance of writing and communication skills, and touched on how she became a business owner and well-known marketing professional. She also discussed how the team at North Star has grown and maintained a solid reputation over the past 11 years, as well as North Star’s products – eGlue and the World’s Smallest Newsletter (WSN). Most importantly, Williams discussed what the students should expect as they prepare to launch their own careers and what skills and attributes she looks for when making additions to her team.

“I truly appreciate the opportunity to speak with young adults about their career goals, so it was a pleasure to return to URI and discuss some key topics, such as blogging and the impact of technology on how we serve our clients,” said Williams. “The students are very receptive and eager to learn the ins and outs of the industry, and I hope I’ve given them some meaningful insight.”

North Star Marketing is committed to maintaining strong personal relationships with Rhode Island communities and schools. North Star continues to offer student internship opportunities, and has worked with a number of URI students in the past.
