InterVarsity Christian FellowshipInsight InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is an evangelical campus organization that was founded in 1941 and now has chapters in more than 550 college and university campuses nationwide. The University of Rhode Island Chapter, Origins, is one of the largest in New England and serves a student community of over 15,000.
Action Intervarsity staff relies entirely on charitable giving and fundraising for its annual budget, which includes salaries, benefits, training, ministry management and other services. Lisa Olson, a member of the Origins staff, contacted North Star to create a professional marketing tool that would alert the community and local churches of their service to the student body and encourage donations to meet its financial needs.
Solution North Star created a brochure that would be the focal point for fundraising events and alert the public to Origins’ mission. The brochure was developed to match other Intervarsity collateral and included a professional photo of Lisa, information about the chapter, personal testimonies from participating students and a call for support and donations. It was dispersed throughout the campus and at the annual Origins’ Fall fundraiser.
Results The brochure was an undeniable success. Less than one month after the brochures were completed, Lisa had jumped from 40% of her budget to over 60%. Her new fundraising resource will be instrumental in increasing financial and reputational support for Origins’ mission.
