Elena Falcone-Relvas - PR Aficionado

Elena Falcone-Relvas

Elena Falcone-Relvas, North Star’s PR Aficionado, has nearly 20 years of communications experience – beginning as a newspaper reporter and going on to practice PR in both the public and private sectors. Elena’s extensive writing and media relations experience and strategic thinking put our clients on the map amidst changing ground – ensuring that they are visible leaders and experts, their messages pop among target audiences, and their businesses succeed as a result.

A PR enthusiast, Elena is a fundamental North Star team member, leading PR for a variety of North Star accounts ranging from state agencies, educational and financial institutions, and nonprofits to clients in the healthcare and auto industries. Whether it’s launching a product, initiative, campaign or facility, placing a business feature or op-ed, or navigating a client crisis, Elena tackles each initiative with passion, creativity, diligence, tenacity and a quest to generate buzz and results for our clients. Her work promoting Leonard Hair Transplant Associates’ contest to help the unemployed get back in the job market resulted in nearly 90 national media placements. Jewish Community Day School of RI – for whom North Star’s deliverables included developing messaging and securing testimonials – reported steady enrollment, attrition reduction, and no staff turnover. The RI DEM Get Fresh. Buy Local campaign’s Twitter and Facebook accounts drew over 500 fans in the first year. The skill sets Elena offers clients include messaging and writing; traditional, new media, and community relations; speech writing and securing speaking opportunities and awards; media training and crisis communications; event planning; and executing product launches.

Prior to joining North Star, Elena worked for over 10 years at Duffy & Shanley, winning outstanding achievement honors from the Publicity Club of New England’s Bell Ringer Awards. As Account Supervisor, she led multiple accounts in various industry sectors, including government and quasi-public agencies, healthcare and hospitality, renewable energy, architectural design, financial and cultural institutions, and juvenile, sport specialty, and accessory industry consumer products. She developed and executed strategic public relations plans and campaigns, including special events, and provided strategic client counsel and PR thought leadership. An award-winning news conference publicized Narragansett Bay Commission’s CSO Abatement Program – RI’s largest infrastructure project – transmitting live footage from 300 feet underground. An award-winning high-end juvenile product launch featured a partnership with a leading fashion designer and resulted in over 200 million PR impressions. Another award-winning client effort led to the famed Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.

Earlier in her career, Elena served as Acting and Deputy Press Secretary to Governor Lincoln C. Almond, handling daily press correspondence, drafting speaking remarks for the Governor, and planning and executing special events and public forums. She also served as Deputy Director of Communications for the Executive Office of Communities and Development in Boston – a cabinet within Governor William F. Weld’s administration. Before that, Elena worked as a newspaper reporter.

Elena received a BA in Communications and Political Science from Simmons College in Boston. She also attended American University in Washington, D.C., and College International de Cannes in Cannes, France.
