By now you've probably heard of the latest social marketing craze, Twitter. Users communicate through the exchange of frequent, quick updates and can stay informed of other users' activities by "following" them (to "follow" is to subscribe to receive another user's posts). More and more businesses are using this micro-blogging tool to increase the reach of their business. Here are some tips to consider for your own business Twitter account:
-
Be Selective - Keep the number of profiles you follow to a minimum. Determine which profiles would be insightful to your business and focus on those, rather than overwhelm yourself with too much information from too many sources.
-
Take Advantage of Endless Possibilities - Twitter is unique because you can use it for networking, public relations, blogging and much more. Use your Twitter profile to generate awareness, promote dialogue, provide customer service, engage with your business community, send and receive breaking news, etc.
-
K.I.S.S. - Keep it simple (somehow)! With a 140-character limit per post, Twitter is a fast and efficient way to spread information. Don't dwell on eloquence - Twitter lets you get away with just the facts.
