North Star Marketing Welcomes Idea Instigator

September 26, 2011

Leading New England creative communications firm North Star Marketing is thrilled to announce that Helen Hames has joined its team as Idea Instigator. Not afraid of change, her title comes from a fearless view on creative ideas that inspire improvement.

As an Account Manager, Helen wants to understand how clients and businesses work, as well as get an idea how their competitors work. Her role is to help position North Star as a strategic partner that brings new ideas to the table, helping clients build valuable business advantages.

“I want to uncover challenges—and find opportunities to address those challenges that are directly linked to ROI,” Helen said. “I’m not interested in finding generic problems and defining generic solutions. I think most people can do that on their own.”

Before joining North Star, Helen worked at the senior marketing level in the video game, toy and computer accessories industries. With experience in both B2B and B2C, Helen has had responsibility making sure programs were based off sound ideas, implemented properly and that benchmarks were assessed to make sure campaigns stayed on track.

“Helen has a natural instinct for how businesses work and how they interconnect,” said North Star President & Visionary April Williams. “Having overseen departments and projects—all while staying on budget and producing revenue—gives her a perfect background to manage our clients’ accounts and be a strategic consultant for their businesses.”

While she wouldn’t describe herself as a sweets eater, Helen loves to cook and sees it as another way to explore and create something new daily. Her pièce de résistance? Helen’s kids would say it’s her bread pudding with whiskey sauce that she makes every Thanksgiving.

Helen graduated from Keene State College with a degree in business. She lives in Newport, RI.
